Chippa United’s Nwabili Yet To Receive Concrete Offers After AFCON Heroics

February 27, (THEWILL) – Stanley Nwabili, the 27-year-old Nigerian goalkeeper for South African club, Chippa United, has revealed that he is yet to receive any concrete offers from other clubs after his impressive showing at the Africa Cup of Nations tournament. Nwabili helped Nigeria reach the final, keeping four clean sheets and stopping penalties in the process.

Although missing out on the Golden Glove award to Ronwen Williams, Nwabili’s exploits generated supposed interest from several clubs according to media reports. However, the player insists these have solely been online rumours and no official approaches have landed.

“I’ve never seen offers on my table, but when there are rumours, I wish for them to materialise,” he stated. After knocking out hosts South Africa in the semi-finals, Nwabili was warned against returning to the country amidst threats from disappointed fans.

However, he dismissed those suggestions, instead thanking Chippa chairman Siviwe Mpengesi for his support during AFCON, even wishing Nigeria well against his native South Africa.

“I really appreciate him, and honestly, I owe him a lot; people are saying Stanley must leave Chippa. I wish to work for him for another two years, but I don’t think that wish will come true”, Nwabili conceded, hinting he may have to consider offers should they arise. For now, he remains committed to Chippa United, the club that gave him his big break.
