October 27, (THEWILL) – A Chinese National, Jeng Quarong, alleged to have killed a Kano lady, Ummulkhuksum Sani Buhari, has denied killing his ex-lover.
Quarong, who appeared before Kano State High Court on Thursday, where his charges were read out to him via an interpreter in his local language, denied killing the 23-year-old Buhari.
His trial had stalled last month when he requested to be furnished with a lawyer or interpreter who can speak his Chinese language.
He was charged under section 221 of the penal code law, punishable with death.
Following his denial, Justice Sanusi Ado Ma’aji, consequently adjourned the case to 16,17 and 18th Nov for hearing.
He ordered the defendant to be remanded in Correctional Service.
