July 25, (THEWILL) – Chelsea has contacted RB Leipzig regarding a possible transfer for Leipzig’s Nordi Mukiele, a defender who has already agreed to a transfer offer with Paris Saint-Germain.
The Ligue 1 champions initially tried to sign Mukiele on a loan agreement, but they ultimately gave in to Leipzig’s demands for a permanent transfer, agreeing to pay a €16 million sum and easily negotiating Mukiele’s personal terms.
In the upcoming days, PSG hopes to complete the signing of Mukiele, but they may now have to hold off a last-minute competition from Chelsea, who have contacted Leipzig to seek a fresh deal. Todd Boehly’s team has now gotten in touch with Leipzig in an effort to beat PSG to a deal. The Blues and Manchester United have been keeping an eye on Mukiele over the past year.
While PSG and Mukiele have already reached an amicable agreement on the latter’s 12-month contract, Timo Werner, a former Leipzig striker who is aiming to exit Stamford Bridge this summer, will work in Chelsea’s favour.
The idea of sending Werner back to the Red Bull Arena as part of a move for Mukiele has been discussed. Leipzig are one of the teams that have contacted Chelsea about a deal for the German and a swap can be worked out.
