CHAN 2023: Ethiopia And Mozambique Battle To 0-0 Draw

January 14, (THEWILL) – The African Nations Championship Group A action kicked off with a goalless draw between Ethiopia and Mozambique.

The game remained a stalemate throughout the first half, with Ethiopia on the attack and Mozambique defending from the start. Ethiopia had 66% possession and played in the offensive field, but both teams struggled to create opportunities. The game remained scoreless at the break.

In the second half, the game continued in much the same way, with Ethiopia still dominating possession and Mozambique defending. There were few chances for either team but neither team could find the net and elicit further excitement.

Ethiopia made changes to their lineup with Hailu and Jemma coming in for Markneh and Gugsa in the 82nd minute. Mozambique also made changes with Isac and Melque Alexandre joining the game and Nelson and Ha King being replaced.

The game ended with a final score of Ethiopia 0-0 Mozambique as the teams started the competition with a point each. Both teams will now look to improve in their next match in hopes of qualifying for the second phase of the tournament.
