BEVERLY HILLS, October 22, (THEWILL) – AC Milan started their UEFA Europa League group stage in impressive fashion as they outplayed Celtic on their way to a hard fought 3-1 win away at Celtic Park on Thursday evening.
Milan took a 2-0 lead into half-time, with the Bosnian Rade Krunic opening the scoring with a header and Spaniard Brahim Diaz adding a second minutes before half-time which Vasilios Barkas, Celtic’s Greek goalie could not keep out.
The hosts pulled one back through their Norwegian loanee Mohamed Elyounoussi’s free header from a corner, but Jens Petter Hauge, Norwegian left back for Milan wrapped up the points late with a stoppage-time goal.
By this result, Milan extend their unbeaten run in all competitions at the start of the season to eight games and are level on points with Lille in Group H.
Next up for them in the Europa League is Sparta Prague, but they face Roma first in Serie A at the weekend.
This is Celtic’s second loss on the bounce, so coach Neil Lennon will be hoping his side can bounce back in the league when they face Aberdeen.
