September 13, (THEWILL) – Celine Dion has returned to the stage for her first full concert in more than six years, marking a major moment in her career after a long break from live performances.
The 58-year-old Canadian singer performed before a sold-out crowd of about 30,000 fans at the Plenitude Arena in Nanterre, near Paris, on Saturday, September 12.
The concert opened Dion’s long-awaited Paris residency, which will see her perform 26 shows across 2026 and 2027.
Dion opened the night with her French-language song “On ne change pas.” She became emotional as the crowd welcomed her with loud cheers and applause, forcing her to pause and collect herself before continuing.
After taking in the reaction from the audience, Dion spoke about the moment and the journey that brought her back to the stage.
“It’s amazing we are all together. I made a promise to come back, to be back on stage. Here I am, singing for you, singing for me. Thank you so very much for your support and patience. And if I may say so, I am everything I am because you loved me.”

She then continued with “Destin” and went on to deliver a 25-song set that lasted about two hours and 15 minutes.
The performance featured several of her biggest hits, including “Pour que tu m’aimes encore,” “The Power of Love” and “My Heart Will Go On,” her famous ballad from the 1997 film Titanic.
Another major moment came during the encore when Dion performed “All By Myself.” She hit and held a high F note, prompting a huge reaction from the crowd.
The return is especially significant because Dion has spent the past several years dealing with stiff-person syndrome, a rare and progressive neurological disorder that causes muscle stiffness and spasms.
Dion announced her diagnosis in 2022 and was forced to cancel tour dates as she focused on her health. The condition also affected her ability to perform, keeping her away from full concerts.
Her last full concert was on March 8, 2020. She later gave fans a glimpse of her return in July 2024 when she performed “Hymne à l’amour” during the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics.
Saturday’s performance, however, presented a much bigger challenge as Dion had to complete an entire concert in front of a packed arena.
Her Paris residency currently includes 16 performances between September 12 and October 17, 2026, with another 10 shows scheduled for May 2027.

The 26-date run is expected to attract fans from France, Canada and other parts of the world.
For many in the audience, the concert was the first opportunity in years to see Dion perform a full set live. Her return also offered a reminder of the lasting connection she has built with fans throughout her career.
Dion closed the show with more music and a message of love to the audience, encouraging them to take care of themselves.
