According to market data available to the refinery, imported PMS accounted for approximately 43 per cent of fuel supplied into the Nigerian market in July. The development, it said, raises questions about the necessity of continued large-scale imports at a time when Nigeria has significantly expanded its domestic refining capacity.

The latest adjustment was contained in an official communication issued to customers on Tuesday by the refinery’s Group Commercial Operations.

Inflation is slowing, external reserves have climbed, and several major companies are reporting stronger profits. At the same time, borrowing remains expensive, food prices are still putting pressure on household budgets, and investors can now earn relatively high returns from fixed-income instruments.

The funds were raised through eight Federal Government of Nigeria bond auctions conducted by the Debt Management Office during the period, as investors continued to show strong appetite for government securities despite the government’s cautious approach to borrowing costs.
