Both the Immigration and Correctional Services operate under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Interior, headed by Tunji-Ojo.

The Immigration Service plays a central role in the management and protection of Nigeria’s borders, regulation of migration and administration of passports and other travel documentation.

The Correctional Service, on the other hand, manages custodial facilities across the country and implements custodial and non-custodial measures under Nigeria’s correctional framework.

With Tinubu’s latest approval, Nwakuche’s tenure will now terminate on May 26, 2028, while Nandap’s will end on June 30, 2028, giving the authorities additional time to complete arrangements for their eventual succession.
