January 10, (THEWILL) – Liverpool midfielder Fabio Carvalho has completed a loan move to Hull City until the end of the 2023/2024 season. The 21-year-old will spend the remainder of the campaign with the Championship side, who fended off competition from the likes of Southampton to finalise the deal.

Carvalho returned to Liverpool earlier in January following an unsuccessful loan spell at RB Leipzig, making just one Bundesliga start. Now, he will join Liverpool teammate, Tyler Morton, at Hull as he looks to get more regular first-team action under manager Liam Rosenior. Rosenior expressed his delight at capturing the services of the talented young Portuguese midfielder.

The Hull boss praised the work the club’s owners had done to bring Carvalho in and talked up the team’s reputation for developing young talent. He highlighted Carvalho’s technical qualities and attacking instincts, saying he has the ability to “really impact” their push for promotion this season.

Carvalho joined Liverpool from Fulham last summer in a £5 million deal after scoring 10 goals in their promotion-winning Championship campaign. However, he struggled for minutes at Anfield this season after a bright start, making just 11 English Premier League appearances before December.

The 21-year-old will be eager to impress during his loan spell and could make his Hull debut against Norwich on Friday night. His arrival is a real coup for the Yorkshire club as they target a return to the EPL.
