CAMA Act 2020: CUPP Sues FG

BEVERLY HILLS, September 02, (THEWILL) – The Nigeria Opposition Coalition of United Political Parties, CUPP has kicked against the Company and Allied Matters Act, CAMA 2020.

Briefing reporters in Abuja, the spokesman of the CUPP, Ikenga Imo-Ugochinyere, expressed surprise at the passage of the Company and Allied Matters Act, CAMA into law after the National Assembly amended some obnoxious sections in it.

Ugochinyere said, the opposition coalition has already “filed a suit in court challenging the law, and it is proposing an amendment of the act.”

The group is also asking the Nigerian Government to understand that the funds contributed by religious organisations and their members are “private voluntary funds raised by religious organisations for their specific religious pursuits and not a subvention from government and cannot be hijacked by the government without an order of a court.”

It said, the funds cannot also be taken by government and given out to any other organisation without considering the interest of those religious groups that voluntarily raised these funds.
