June 22, (THEWILL) – The Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), has announced the dates for two major football tournaments to be held in Morocco. The Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025 will take place from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026. Additionally, the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), is scheduled for July 5 to July 26, 2025.

CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe enthused that AFCON Morocco 2025 will be the most successful in the competition’s history. He also noted the significant growth of women’s football in Africa, anticipating a highly successful WAFCON in the North African country. Motsepe acknowledged that finalising the AFCON dates took longer than expected due to complex discussions with various stakeholders, considering the extensive international and domestic match calendars.

The President emphasised CAF’s commitment to protecting African players’ interests and developing mutually beneficial relationships with organisations such as ECA, UEFA and FIFA. He extended gratitude to King Mohammed VI of Morocco, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), its President Fouzi Lekjaa, and the Moroccan government and people for hosting both tournaments.

FRMF President, Fouzi Lekjaa, stated that Morocco aims to provide the best conditions to host Africa and the world during AFCON 2025. The CAF Executive Committee also announced that the 46th CAF Ordinary General Assembly will be held in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, on October 10.

Furthermore, CAF opened bids for hosting several events, including the CAF Women’s Champions League 2024, U17 AFCON, U20 AFCON, and CAF Awards 2024. The organisation has also received proposals from the Middle East to host the CAF TotalEnergies Super Cup 2024, featuring Egyptian clubs Al Ahly SC and Zamalek SC.
