August 14, (THEWILL) — Six years after its release, Burna Boy’s Grammy-winning album “Twice As Tall” has surpassed two billion global streams.
Released on August 14, 2020, the 15-track project followed the success of his 2019 album “African Giant” and further strengthened his position as one of Africa’s leading artistes on the global music scene.
Twice As Tall” blended Afrobeats with dancehall and hip-hop and featured international artistes including Senegalese music legend Youssou N’Dour, American hip-hop group Naughty by Nature, Kenyan band Sauti Sol, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin and British rapper Stormzy.
The project produced several popular tracks, including “Level Up (Twice As Tall)”, “Wonderful”, “Onyeka (Baby)”, “Monsters You Made”, “Way Too Big”, “Real Life” and “23”.
The album also received strong international recognition. It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard World Albums chart, peaked at No. 54 on the Billboard 200 and reached No. 11 on the UK Albums Chart.
Its biggest achievement came at the 63rd Grammy Awards in 2021, where “Twice As Tall” won Best Global Music Album, earning Burna Boy his first Grammy Award. The win marked a major moment for Nigerian music and further raised the profile of Afrobeats on the international stage.
