BEVERLY HILLS, June 14, (THEWILL) – Nigerian forward, Taiwo Awoniyi, was rushed to the hospital following a clash of heads and what appears to be a nasty-looking fall in Mainz’s home defeat.
Augsburg won the match 1-0 and the Nigerian, who was in the starting eleven, lasted only 23 minutes in the game following the injury sustained. Austrian international, Karim Onisiwo replaced Awoniyi, who was conscious on the trip to the hospital, according to his club.
THEWILL reports that Mainz have now lost their last three home games and have recorded just one win in their last five matches. They are in 15th position with 31 points.
