September 01, (THEWILL) — Bukayo Saka scored the decisive goal as Arsenal secured a 1-0 victory over Aston Villa at Villa Park, giving the Premier League champions a perfect start to their title defence. The England international settled a tightly contested encounter in the second half as Mikel Arteta’s side collected their second win from as many league matches.
Arsenal had to work for the victory, with both teams struggling to create clear opportunities during a cagey opening half. Arsenal also had concerns of their own during the match, with Cristhian Mosquera forced off in the second half before Ezri Konsa came on to make his Arsenal debut against his former club. Declan Rice was also withdrawn late in the contest, although the extent of any injury was not immediately clear.
