BEVERLY HILLS, September 08, (THEWILL) – Governor Nasir El-Rufai has reacted to the support publicly pledged to former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, by a serving minister, Aisha Jummai Alhassan, stating that the latter has never been a supporter of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The Kaduna governor, who spoke with State House correspondents after meeting with the President on Friday, said he was not surprised that the Minister of Women Affairs would openly endorsed Atiku.
He said she was not in Buhari’s camp during the presidential primary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and has never supported the president’s ideology.
While advising Nigerians not to be surprised or shocked at the minister’s outburst, El-Rufai disclosed that Alhassan did not also vote for Buhari during the APC presidential primary in Lagos.
He stated that Buhari ignored reservations expressed by party members when selecting her as a minister.
The governor however stated that Alhassan’s retention or otherwise as a cabinet minister is at “the discretion of the President”.
