SAN FRANCISCO, July 20, (THEWILL) – Former Nigerian international, Etim Esin, has enjoined Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, to bring back Manchester United striker, Odion Ighalo to the team.
THEWILL recalls that Ighalo announced his retirement from international duty after the third place match at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, where he won the golden booth as the competition’s top scorer.
However, the striker has continued to impress with his performances since joining the Red Devils from Chinese Super League club, Shanghai Shenhua.
Esin, who could not comprehend why Ighalo, who is one of the best in the country, will not be included in the national team, feels that the striker should be lured back to the Super Eagles.
“I think this is a job for the coach [Gernot Rohr], he’s the one in charge and he should try and convince Ighalo to rescind his decision on retirement from the national team,” Esin told the Punch.
