November 25, (THEWILL) – Brighton and Hove Albion have struggled to find form this season and were on a six-match run without victory but they showed resilience on Saturday to claim a vital 3-2 triumph away at Nottingham Forest. Despite having captain Lewis Dunk sent off and conceding a late penalty, Brighton held on at the City Ground.
The visitors fell behind early to an Anthony Elanga header. However, inspired by teenager Evan Ferguson, Brighton fought back. Ferguson and Joao Pedro put the south coast side 3-1 ahead before Dunk’s red card added late drama. Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White converted from the spot to set up a tense finale, but Brighton clung on to arrest their winless run.
With only one victory in nine, pressure will begin to grow on Forest boss Steve Cooper. In contrast, Brighton are set to climb higher in the top half of the table, now in seventh place thanks to this morale-boosting success. Roberto De Zerbi’s men had to dig deep as injuries and Europa League commitments appeared to catch up with them.
Yet, in a test of character, Albion passed. Coming from behind and holding on despite losing their captain, this resilient display offers optimism of better days ahead. Not since late September against Bournemouth had Brighton tasted league victory. After six frustrating weeks, this hard-fought win over a struggling Forest side could prove a turning point.
