Boxing: Fury Edges Past KSI In Forgettable Manchester Bout

October 15, (THEWILL) – Tommy Fury edged past YouTube star KSI in a lacklustre light-heavyweight contest at the AO Arena in Manchester early on Sunday. The judges scored the 6-round bout 57-56 and 56-55 to Fury, with the third judge scoring it 56-56. However, many felt KSI deserved the nod in a fight devoid of quality.

Fury, the younger brother of world heavyweight champion Tyson, was unable to utilise his height and reach advantages against the plucky challenger. KSI continuously tied his opponent up on the inside whilst scoring with quick flurries. Fury was docked a point for hitting KSI on the back of the head in round 2, and that proved crucial in the final reckoning.

Afterwards, a frustrated KSI slammed his fist into the commentary desk, believing he had done enough to gain revenge for his brother’s recent defeat to Fury. But the judges sided with Fury’s marginal superiority in an instantly forgettable affair.

Earlier, YouTube personality, Logan Paul, won by disqualification against MMA fighter, Dillon Danis, following ugly scenes at the conclusion, as THEWILL reported. However, the one-sided pantomime bout brought little credit to either combatant.

Ultimately, Saturday’s event will not live long in the memory. Tommy Fury edged out KSI but did little to justify the pre-fight predictions of an easy win. Both men will seek more appealing match-ups after a contest devoid of genuine quality.
