February 25, (THEWILL) – A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George, has applauded the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) over its voting process through the use of the Biomodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).
George said the use of the BVAS had reduced drastically the accreditation and voting time as well as eliminated other discrepancies associated with past voting exercises in the country.
He gave the applause on Saturday while speaking with newsmen after casting his vote at his polling unit tagged 002 in Ikoyi- Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State, expressing hope and praying that the new system would work to make people’s votes count.
George said he was able to do accreditation and voting within just five to six minutes and expressed the belief that the directive of President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure that there were free and fair polls was already working, declaring that it was time Nigeria have zero tolerance for rigging and vote buying and the country move to higher heights.
“I got there and within a period of five to six minutes, I did my accreditation through BVAS, and completed the voting exercise. This system should continue.
“I have not heard of any disorderliness in any parts of the state, concerning the voting exercise. Everything is going on smoothly. I think the directive of Mr. President is working to ensure a free and fair election.
“There should be zero-tolerance for election manipulation and ballot snatching and rigging. This nonsense must stop. This country must grow,” he said.
