October 11, (THEWILL) – Benjamin Mendy has been denied bail once more ahead of his trial on four charges of rape and one count of sexual assault in the new year.
Following his arrest in August, the 27-year-old France international has been remanded at HMP Altcourse near Liverpool.
Mendy, who has also been suspended by his club, has previously been denied bail on two occasions.
Three women, one of whom was under the age of 18, are said to have been assaulted at his Cheshire home. Louis Saha Matturie, 40, of Eccles, Greater Manchester, has been charged with four counts of rape. He is also being held in custody.
At neither of the defendants’ previous court appearances were they asked to enter a plea. They will be back in Chester Crown Court on November 15 for a hearing, followed by a trial on January 24.
