August 09, (THEWILL) — Martins Iyeh and Mercedes have become the first housemates to leave the Big Brother Naija Season 11 reality show after spending two weeks in the house.
The two contestants were evicted during Sunday night’s live show after viewers’ votes determined who would continue in the competition. Martins was announced as the first evictee, followed by Mercedes.
Their exit reduces the number of contestants from 24 to 22 as the “Show Ya Sef” season enters its third week.
The eviction followed a week of nominations, tasks and shifting alliances in the house.
Earlier in the week, Sheba emerged as the first female Head of House after winning the Week 2 challenge.
During Sunday night’s live show, Big Brother announced that Sheba had used her Veto power to save Chimsom Chuka from possible eviction. The announcement drew murmurs and curious stares from some of the housemates.
Chimsom later received another advantage after being named the Most Influential Housemate for Week 2. The recognition comes with immunity from eviction for Week 3, giving him additional security as the competition progresses.
The season’s Gambit twist also remains a closely guarded secret, with Big Brother revealing Aikou and Flora’s roles separately during their diary sessions last week. Both housemates were instructed to keep their identities secret, with any disclosure potentially leading to disqualification, while they were also given secret tasks to complete in the house.

The house also suffered a setback after losing its weekly wager challenge, leaving the housemates to manage their available resources as they prepare for another week of tasks and activities.
During his time in the house, Martins celebrated his birthday with his fellow housemates, with Big Brother organising a special gathering for him. Mercedes also entertained him with a performance, while other contestants offered prayers and goodwill messages.
Martins and Mercedes’ eviction marks an early end to their BBNaija journey.
With Martins and Mercedes out of the competition, the remaining 22 housemates will face another week of nominations, tasks, alliances and possible evictions.
As the season gathers momentum, the pressure is expected to increase among the contestants as they continue their quest for the Season 11 title and the ₦160 million prize package.
Host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu also reminded the housemates that entertainment remains central to their time in the house, urging them to stay focused and keep their heads in the game.
