Bayelsa Council Chairmen-Elect Get Certificates Of Return

April 15, (THEWILL) – The Bayelsa State Independent Electoral Commission (BYSIEC) has issued Certificates of Return to the eight Local Government Chairmen and Vice Chairmen-elect who won the council election on April 6, 2024.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) swept the council election as it won in all eight Local Government Areas and Wards of the state.

Presenting the Certificate of Return to the Council officials at the Ernest Ikoli Press Center of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat in Yenagoa, BYSIEC Chairman, Dr. Peter Singabele, congratulated them on their victory at the polls and urged them to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people at the grassroots.

Responding on behalf of the elected Chairmen and Vice Chairmen, the Chairman of Yenagoa Local Government Area, Hon. Bulodisiye Ndiwari, thanked Governor Douye Diri, his Deputy, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, and other stakeholders and supporters of the party for their support, pledging to justify the confidence reposed in them by improving the quality of lives of the people in the various council areas.

The elected Chairmen present at the ceremony were Lucky Febo (Brass Local Government Area), Golden Jeremiah (Ogbia Local Government Area), Chief David Alagoa (Nembe Local Government Area), and Target Segibo (Southern Ijaw Local Government Area).

Others were Lelei Tariye Isaac (Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area), Onniye Isaac (Ekeremor Local Government Area), and Mrs. Alice Allen-Tangi (Sagbama Local Government Area), the only elected woman.

Unprecedented tumultuous supporters of the elected eight Local Government Councils Chairmen and Vice Chairmen converged at the State NUJ Secretariat in Yenagoa as they were issued their Certificate of Returns.

Meanwhile, elected Councillors for the one hundred and five wards will be sworn in on Tuesday, across the eight Local Government Areas.
