April 3, (THEWILL)- Gunmen suspected to be bandits Monday night, attacked a mosque in Gusau, Zamfara State capital, abducting an unconfirmed number of worshippers during the Tahajjud congregational prayer.
Tahajjud prayer is a vigil normally held in the last 10 days of Ramadan preceeding Eid-el-Ftr.
A resident in the area, simply identified as Mannir, told newsmen on Tuesday that the bandits stormed the mosque during the night prayer.
“While the number of abducted individuals remains unconfirmed, authorities are actively pursuing the assailants”, Mannir added.
As at the time of this report, authorities in Zamfara State including the Government and the Police Command, have not issued any statement on the incident.
THEWILL however reports that the attack is coming just week after Governor Dauda Lawal engaged in discussions with President Bola Tinubu to address the  escalating banditry and related criminal activities in Zamfara State.
