The embassy issued the warning on Wednesday through its official X account, urging prospective applicants to obtain visa-related information directly from the mission and other official German government channels.

The planned crackdown is being coordinated by the US Department of State and the Department of Homeland Security and is expected to target holders of B1 and B2 non-immigrant visas issued between 2016 and 2026 whose holders have subsequently sought asylum in the United States.

According to INTERPOL, the operation ran from November 2025 to June 2026, bringing together law enforcement agencies from six continents to identify high-value criminal targets, trace illicit financial flows, seize criminal assets and support arrests and prosecutions.

The retaliatory measures will affect several major categories of American goods, including steel and aluminium, dairy products, electrical equipment, appliances, fish, industrial materials and other consumer products.
