BEVERLY HILLS, May 15, (THEWILL) – A leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Bayelsa, Chief Izzi Yakiah, says that there is no crisis in the party while commending the former Governor and Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva for attracting progress to the land and people.

The APC chieftain, who is also National Coordinator, Niger Delta Activist Group and Excellent Leadership Foundation, stated this in an interview with THEWILL in Yenagoa.

He said that Chief Timipre Sylva, the former Governor and the Minister of State for Petroleum, had proven himself as a credible leader who accommodated all party members, as well as being a performing Minister who had attracted more development to the state despite his party affiliation.

He said the party was more united than before with Sylva, despite the frivolous claims by a faction.

According to him: “There is no crisis rocking the Bayelsa APC, all what you see or read are issues that have been trashed out before the governorship election.

“You will agree with me that the party came in one accord, if not for the Supreme Court judgement, all those issues had been resolved.

“In Bayelsa the party has one leader, who is Chief Timipre Sylva, he has made several leadership strides in the state.

“He won over 43 percent of the presidential election, which is the highest in the South-South and the South East region, till date the record has not been beaten.

“Facts are there for us to verify, he was able to win one House of Representatives Member, one Senator, and four Assembly members.”

He explained that the APC stakeholders’ meeting was held on February 2, 2021 at the party secretariat along Mbiama Yenagoa Road, Bayelsa State, with Sylva also present.

Yakiah said: “In that forum a lot of issues were discussed regarding the APC membership registration and revalidation exercise.

“The Minister did a lot to ensure that the party is in unity, he equally ensured that 20 APC members were appointed in Federal parastatals and boards, all in this 2021.

“All the people causing problems are the people who have benefited from him, as he has a large heart to assist, as he has a forgiving spirit.”

He credited Sylva with drawing development to the state, like the commissioning of the Content Tower, Brass LNG Project, Elebele Power Plant Project, the Emeyal Oil and Gas Park and Brass Fertiliser.

Yakiah, described Bayelsa as the least developed state in the South-South geo-political zone and people should think of how to attract more development and investment to the place than cause crisis all in the name of factions.
