December 30, (THEWILL) – Carlo Ancelotti has emphatically dismissed having any interest in managing Brazil’s national team, claiming that the country’s football body has not contacted him.
Since former coach Tite resigned following a disappointing World Cup quarter-final elimination earlier this month, Ancelotti has been one of many names mentioned in connection with the position.
The Italian manager of Real Madrid, while answering inquiries about the prospect of accepting the position in Brazil before Christmas, declared that he was intrigued at the time but left the door open for later.
As he continued to face more inquiries on the subject, the 63-year-old has now offered a far more resounding response: “I don’t know, I was never approached by them and the Brazil Federation never called me. I just want to stay at Real Madrid. I’ll never ask Real Madrid to let me leave this club.”
Ancelotti, who has led Los Blancos to Champions League victories in both of his stints in command, including the elusive La Decima in his first, is still under contract at the Bernabeu. He spent time at Bayern Munich, Napoli, and oddly enough, Everton, before returning to Madrid in 2021, where he won the La Liga and Champions League double in his first season.
