July 25, (THEWILL) — The death of Food Network star, Anne Burrell, has been officially ruled a suicide, according to the New York City Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Burrell passed away on June 17, 2025, at the age of 55.

According to the police, officers discovered Burrell unconscious and unresponsive in her home, and emergency medical services pronounced her dead at the scene.

In a statement made on Thursday, authorities confirmed the cause of death as “acute intoxication due to the combined effects of diphenhydramine, ethanol, cetirizine, and amphetamine.”

Burrell, known for her vibrant personality and roles on shows like Worst Cooks in America and Iron Chef America, leaves behind a celebrated legacy in the culinary world.

Since her passing, fans and colleagues have paid tribute to her talent, humour, and generosity, honouring her impact on food television.
