BEVERLY HILLS, JUNE 20, (THEWILL) – Al-majiri groups as well as other similar associations will be outlawed and proscribed by the federal government, National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno said Thursday at the Presidential Villa Abuja after the meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC).
He said the activities of the groups have contributed to the rising insecurity in the country adding that unemployment, poverty and rising population are also a major factor. He added that good education is every child’s right.
Meanwhile, the National Economic Council has set up a security and Policing Committee to address the rising insecurity nationwide. The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, who announced the development after Thursday’s meeting, said the committee has Governors of Ekiti, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, Katsina, Kogi, National Security Adviser and Chief of Defense staff as members.
