Akwa Ibom YPP Guber Candidate Calls For Thorough Investigation Of Murdered Residents

GTBCO FOOD DRINL

March 19, (THEWILL) – The gubernatorial candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) in Akwa Ibom State, Senator Bassey Albert, has called on security agencies to investigate the alleged killing of three Ibiono Ibom indigenes in Oko Ita, the LG headquarters, by yet to be identified persons suspected to be members of the State Government House security team.

The candidate, who made the call while interacting with journalists in Ward 1, unit 5, where he voted on Saturday, disclosed that thecorpses of the slain victims were allegedly carried away by the same security personnels.

In a swift reaction to the allegation by the gubernatorial candidate, Akwa Ibom State government carpeted allegations by the state commissioner for information and strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong, queried, “Who would be more prone to violence between the state led by a Deacon and a self-confessed cultist.”

THEWILL reports that the Candidate of the (YPP), Sen. Akpan, had accused the Akwa Ibom State Government of fomenting violence in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area, which led to the killing of the two indigenes on the eve of the gubernatorial/State Assembly elections.

Reacting to the allegations, Ememobong, who is a former Publicity Secretary of the PDP, expressed shock that Akpan, whom he said has antecedents of political violence could pin such act on others.

“Incidentally that guber candidate is a self-confessed cultist, so you ask yourself, between a cultist and a deacon, who should be blamed for the violence. Check who is more prone to violence.

“See, people are different, they will have their day in court. Incidentally, some of the people are already convicts and they may just be bidding their spare time here, but people can still be doubly convicted because they won’t run concurrently, they would run one after the other.”

Speaking further on the alleged killing of men said to be YPP supporters, Ememobong Wondered what YPP supporters could have been doing at the INEC office at such odd hours.

“Assuming that they were YPP supporters, the question is; What were YPP supporters doing at INEC office at that time of the night? were they ought to have been there? The admission that their supporters were those killed is a simple admission that they were trying to break into the INEC office.

“The only people expected to have been there are agents, so except they can identify those people as agents; INEC is exclusive for party agents, INEC staff and adhoc staff. If someone knows who they were, then he should be able to know what they were doing there”, the commission wondered.
