December 03, (THEWILL) – Member representing Eket, Esit Eket, Ibeno and Onna Federal Constituency in Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Pat Ifon has stressed the need for sound health conditions among the grassroots populace.

The lawmaker made the accession while flagging off free medical outreach targeted at 2,000 indigent persons organised by him, for his Constituents.

Essence of the exercise, according to him, is to compliment the efforts of Udom Emmanuel’s administration at bringing medical care to the doorstep of the people.

“The exercise is to ensure that our constituents are healthy and also to compliment laudable health programmes that the State Government is embarking on.

“We are making sure that the people at the grassroots have access to good health care,” Ifon said.

Ifon, who was represented by his wife, Dr. Elsie Ifon said the exercise is a mini comprehensive health programme, which included outpatient and surgical procedures such as eye examination, surgery, malaria treatment and sundry medical exigencies.

“When you are tested, you will be provided adequate free drugs, when you get your free treatments, let others know,” Ifon said.

He advised those in need of medical attention to avail themselves of the opportunity to be treated free.

Speaking, the spokesperson of the Federal College of Dental Technology and Therapy, Mr Samsondeen Sada, said that programme was in conjunction with the Honourable member representing Eket Federal Constituency in Akwa Ibom.

He explained that the medical experts were on hand to deliver free medical services to the people of Eket.

He noted that parts of the services were to offer general medicines to adults, young, infants and the older people in the area.

“We are going to cover the aspect of eye problems and issues. We are going to conduct dental services in terms of surgical aspects of dental issues.

“We will take minor surgeries and refer them and give appointment time to be treated,” Sada said.

One of the beneficiaries, Mr Ekpuk Ituama, commended the lawmaker for bringing medical outreach to the grass root and urged other well-meaning individuals in the society to emulate the gesture of Mr Ifon.
