Akpabio Formally Declares Umahi, Giadam’s Senatorial Seats Vacant

December 20, (THEWILL) – Senate President Godswill Akpabio has formally declared vacant the seats of two Senators, David Umahi representing Ebonyi-South, and Ibrahim Giadam representing Yobe-East, following their appointments as ministers by President Bola Tinubu.

Making the declaration during a plenary session on Wednesday, Akpabio cited Section 68, Sub-section (1)(d) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) as the basis for the decision.

Akpabio urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to initiate the processes for conducting by-elections in the affected senatorial districts without delay.
