September 20, (THEWILL) – The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), has conferred Honorary Degree of Doctor of Management Science to the Chairman/CEO of Air Peace, Barrister Allen Onyema.
Onyema was decorated with the doctorate degree during the convocation ceremony of Cadets of 70 Regular Course and postgraduate students, which was held on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at the Academy premises in Kaduna, Kaduna State.
According to the Commandant of the Academy, Major General J. O Ochai, the honour extended to Onyema is in recognition of his achievements in the field of business, education, administration and outstanding service to the nation and humanity in general.
Over the last 15 years, the Academy has conferred honorary degrees on 39 distinguished Nigerians including two foreign Heads of States.
“This year, the Academy deems it fit to nominate Barrister Allen Onyema and three other eminent Nigerians for the award”, Major General Ochai stated.
NDA is a specialised military university with the mandate to train Cadets with requisite military and Academy knowledge for commissioning as officers of the Armed Forces of Nigeria. In addition, to the bachelor degree, which is exclusively reserved for the officer Cadets, the Academy runs postgraduate programmes at the Masters and Doctor of Philosophy levels, which are open to both military officers and civilians.
Allen Ifechukwu Onyema is a Nigerian lawyer and entrepreneur. He is the CEO of Air Peace, which he established in 2013.
Allen studied law at the University of Ibadan and graduated in 1987. He attended the Nigerian Law School and was called to Bar in 1989.
His airline, Air Peace Limited, is reputed to be the largest carrier in the country and West Africa. Air Peace provides passenger and charter services, serves the major cities of Nigeria and flies to several West African destinations and the Middle East. The airline currently flies to China, India, South Africa and Israel. It has also started Jeddah and Madina.
