Air Peace has clarified the circumstances surrounding the flight disruptions experienced at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, following reports and videos circulating on social media showing passengers expressing concerns over delays.

Air Peace Limited has rejected the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority’s (NCAA) August 2026 flight disruption report, describing the regulator’s figures as inaccurate.

Onyema made the call while speaking at the 30th Annual Conference of the League of Airport and Aviation Correspondents (LAAC) in Lagos, where he raised concerns over the financial condition of agencies responsible for airport management and civil aviation regulation.

The latest September 2026 aviation data released by global aviation analytics firm, OAG, showed that Air Peace expanded its scheduled seat capacity from 229,412 seats in September 2025 to 354,804 seats in September 2026. The increase of about 125,400 seats represents a 54.7 percent year-on-year growth, the highest recorded among Africa’s leading airlines.

Air Peace Limited has apologised to passengers affected by recent flight delays, diversions and cancellations across some of its operations, attributing the disruptions to a combination of unforeseen operational challenges.

The threat escalates the already bitter confrontation between organised labour and Nigeria’s largest airline, raising the prospect of another major disruption to air travel barely three weeks after the unions’ action against the carrier stranded thousands of passengers and reportedly cost the airline more than ₦2 billion in revenue.
