The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared former Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Abdulrasheed Maina, wanted over an alleged case of receiving stolen property.

The 61-year-old Maina had previously been prosecuted and convicted over money-laundering offences linked to more than N2 billion in pension funds.

Maina was sentenced to eight years in prison in November 2021 and remained in custody until February 25, 2025, when the Nigerian Correctional Service released him after applying statutory remission based on his conduct and other provisions of the law.
September 24, (THEWILL) – The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has declared former Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Abdulrasheed Abdullahi Maina, wanted over an alleged case of receiving stolen property.
The fresh declaration, contained in a notice issued by the commission on Wednesday, adds another twist to the long-running legal troubles of the former pension reform official, who was convicted and jailed over money-laundering offences arising from the controversial pension reform programme.
The notice, signed by the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, identified Maina, 61, as an indigene of Biu, Borno State.
“The public is hereby notified that Abdularasheed Abdullahi Maina, whose photograph appears above, is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in an alleged case of receiving stolen property”, the commission said.

The anti-graft agency appealed to members of the public with information about Maina’s whereabouts to assist in locating him.
It listed its offices in Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt and Abuja as points where information could be supplied.
The commission also urged members of the public to contact it through its designated telephone line or email address, [email protected], or provide information to the nearest police station or other security agency.
