Acerbi Joins Inter On Season-Long Loan, To Wear Shirt No 15

September 01, (THEWILL) – Francesco Acerbi, a defender for Lazio, has signed a season-long loan agreement with Inter.

The Italian will play at San Siro for the duration of the 2022/2023 season, donning the number 15 jersey, as part of Simone Inzaghi’s desire to improve his alternatives in the middle of the Nerazzurri defence.

Initially, club president, Steven Zhang, opposed the agreement amid worries that the fee would rise, but has subsequently given the go-ahead for the 34-year-old to join the ranks and become the sixth signing after the additions of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Andre Onana, and Romelu Lukaku.

With over 30 games in each of the last eight seasons, the center-half, who also played for Chievo, Milan, and Sassuolo in Serie A, will be adding a lot of experience to the back line.

Acerbi was part of Italy’s winning Euro 2020 team and participated in three of the Azzurri’s seven games. When the city rivals square off on Saturday, he might make his Inter debut against his old team, Milan.
