Speaking with newsmen on Tuesday, in Benin City, Aziegbemi said he was happy to return home and reunite with his family.
“I am happy to be back home. I thank you for calling and for your concern. I am happy to reunite with my family. It comes with terrain. I was not maltreated by my kidnappers, but again I am happy to be back home”, he added.
Dr Aziegbemi was kidnapped by gunmen on Friday night, March 15, in Benin City, after a meeting with Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, at the Government House.
While THEWILL cannot immediately confirm if police rescued Dr Aziegbemi, a family source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, disclosed last week that his abductors had contacted the family and demanded N500 million ransom.
Also, Edo State Police Commissioner, Funsho Adegboye, told newsmen earlier that the police tactical team, in collaboration with vigilante groups and hunters, are combing the bush and creeks to rescue Aziegbemi unhurt.
