April 11, (THEWILL) – An American based businessman and member of the 700 Club, Sampson Sydney Akpan, has said that God sent him to salvage his people in Akwa Ibom State.
Akpan, who recently joined the race to occupy the Hilltop Mansion on the platform of the People Democratic Party (PDP), for 2023 governorship race, made it known while addressing newsmen and party supporters at the Victor Attah International Airport Uyo on Monday, shortly after picking the Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms of the People’s Democratic Party.
Akpan, an indigene of Ikot Eka Iko in Oku Iboku, Itu local government area of the state, disclosed that the governorship slot of Akwa Ibom state should be given to Itu/Ibiono Ibom federal constituency, saying other local government areas in the state have been co-opted for the area to succeed.
He said though he was in far away United States of America, he understands the needs of the people of the state and he has Criss Crossed all the 31 local government areas of the state to solicit support of delegates for the party primary election next month.
“I am the son of the soil. I understand the problems of the people. I am coming into the race to salvage the people. I am not here to play politics, but to redeem the people.”
Akpan maintained that he would not join issues with anybody in terms of preferred aspirant, but will remain focused on his aspiration to become the governor of the state come 2023.
Akpan explained that he had touched lives of people in the state especially the young ones through his Foundation, which has provided succour to Akwa Ibom people across the 31 local government areas of the state.
He said the pains of the people has become his own predicament in the task of bringing them out of the present condition where everybody will smile.
“This governorship Nomination form is hereby dedicated to the well being of Akwa Ibom people who are ready to be liberated”, he said.
