2023 UTME: Candidates To Write Exams On Personal Phones As JAMB Unveils BYOD

June 24, (THEWILL) – The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Examinations Board (JAMB), said it will introduce an initiative called ‘Bring Your Own Device’ (BYOD) for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and the Direct Entry (DE) examination.

JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, who disclosed this in Abuja, on Saturday, at the 2023 Policy Meeting, said the initiative would allow candidates to take the examinations on their mobile phones.

He said the Board has continued to spend huge amounts of money on the conduct of examinations, hence the need for the new initiative.

“Movement of some services to the registration portal to prevent extortion, Open Book Examination to Discourage cheating”, said Oloyede.

For the 2023 UTME, Oloyede also disclosed that Umeh Nkechinyere emerged the top scorer with a cumulative mark of 360.

He also unveiled the top 10 candidates, among whom are Aguele Stephen, 358; Ositade Oluwafemi, 358; Gbolahan Ayinde, 357; John Fulfilment, 356; Chimdubem Ugonna, 355, among others.
