SAN FRANCISCO, December 07, (THEWILL) – As intrigues continues to playout ahead of the governorship primary of the ruling PDP in Delta State, local government chairmen from Delta North, Chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at local governments areas in Delta North and members of the state House of Assembly from the zone at a meeting Sunday afternoon appealed to President Goodluck Jonathan, the National headquarters of the PDP and the PDP Delta State chapter to uphold its zoning principle in the state with regards to the 2015 governorship election.
The immediate past Chairman of the party in the state, Chief Peter Nwaoboshi was also in attendance.
The group at the meeting held at the residence of Hon. Friday Osanebi, member representing Ndokwa East at the state House of Assembly, expressed displeasure over reports that Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan has abandoned the zoning principle following his mobilization of support for an aspirant from Delta Central.
THEWILL gathered exclusively that the meeting shortlisted three aspirants for the governorship and urged the party and the governor to chose it’s candidate from amongst them.
The shortlisted aspirants from the three federal constituencies in the zone are chief Godwill Obielum (Ndokwa), Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei (Aniocha-Osimili) and Senator Ifeanyi Okowa (Ika).
The Delta State PDP governorship primary has been slated for Monday, December 08, 2014.
The meeting agreed to issue a communiqué on its position.
