June 09, (THEWILL)- Seun Kuti, son of Afrobeat legend, Fela Kuti, has told Grammy award-winning singer, Wizkid, to stop seeing himself as a Grammy nominee.
According to Kuti, Wizkid does not deserve to be addressed as a Grammy nominee.
In an Instagram video posted on Tuesday, Kuti indirectly urged Wizkid to stop claiming to be a Grammy nominee.
Kuti stated that only solo artistes like him, Femi Kuti, King Sunny Ade and Burna Boy, were the only Nigerian musicians to be nominated for the Grammy.
He also stated that since Wizkid was featured in a collaboration song that won a Grammy award, he had no right to say he had won the award for Nigeria, as the song does not belong to him but an American singer, Beyonce.
“There are only four artistes in Nigeria (to have ever been) nominated for the Grammy, and I am one of them,” Kuti added, directly under the video post.
THEWILL recall that Wizkid featured in a Beyonce song that won a Grammy Award in March this year.
