Wrexham’s Striker Mullin To Miss Start Of Next Season Due To Injury, Manager Frustrated

July 26, (THEWILL) – Wrexham FC’s prolific goalscorer, Paul Mullin, is set to miss the beginning of the upcoming season after sustaining a small puncture in his lung during a recent clash with Manchester United in San Diego, with his manager calling the tackle clumsy and reckless.

The 28-year-old talisman was involved in a collision with United goalkeeper, Nathan Bishop, while chasing a long ball over the top, leaving him in discomfort and requiring medical attention on the field. Wrexham manager, Phil Parkinson, expressed his frustration at the incident, emphasising the impact of Mullin’s absence on the team.

Parkinson criticised the challenge from the United goalkeeper, believing it deserved a straight red card: “It was a clumsy, reckless challenge in a pre-season game. I can’t say any more than the fact I’m not happy with it at all.” Despite Bishop’s subsequent apology on social media, Wrexham’s fans voiced their displeasure, and the team will have to cope without their star striker in their opening game against Milton Keynes Dons on August 5.

While the extent of Mullin’s injury is yet to be determined, it is evident that Wrexham will miss his dexterity on the field. Mullin’s outstanding performance last season, with 38 goals, leading the team to promotion from the National League, showed his importance to the squad.

Although the team has alternative options upfront, Parkinson acknowledged the blow of losing such a key player but maintained that they would rally together to face the challenges ahead.
