August 24, (THEWILL) – TMRW Sports, the company run by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, unveiled TGL, a new tech-enhanced golf league, in collaboration with the PGA TOUR on Wednesday.
On Monday nights in primetime, TGL will present team matches that combine cutting-edge technology and live action from a specially constructed venue. This will complement the current PGA TOUR schedule.
The first season of the league will begin in January 2024, and the league’s first two competitors are Woods and McIlroy. Woods, McIlroy, and TMRW Sports CEO and founder Mike McCarley broke the news on Wednesday.
The TGL, TMRW Sports’ golf league will include the following:
TEAMS
There are six teams, each with three PGA TOUR players.
TECH-INFUSED VENUE
A first-of-its-kind golfing experience made possible by a data-rich, virtual course that includes a short-game challenge that uses technology.
TECH-ENABLED FAN EXPERIENCE
A high-octane, greenside fan experience where every shot is broadcast live throughout a two-hour, primetime contest.
SEASON
Beginning in January 2024, there will be 15 regular season Monday night matches, followed by semifinal and championship games.
