March 04, (THEWILL) – In a major upset on Saturday, Wolverhampton Wanderers secured a 1-0 victory against Tottenham Hotspur at the Molineux, adding to their fight against relegation.
Long-term Spurs target, Adama Traore, came off the bench to score the winning goal, leaving Tottenham stunned. Despite dominating the ball, the visitors were unable to react to the swift change of momentum in the second half.
The game started with Spurs dominating the possession. Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski tested Wolves’ keeper, Jose Sa, with some scorching strikes. However, it was Wolves who finally worked their way through the gears in the second half, with Raul Jimenez and Traore making some impressive attempts.
While Tottenham did hit the bar just before the break, they were unable to find the back of the net. The hosts did everything they could to stop the north London side from finding a way through for a chance to share the spoils.
With this victory, Wolves will now look to carry forward the momentum when they take on Newcastle in their next English Premier League match on Sunday Meanwhile, Tottenham will face AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League final stage on Wednesday, where they will be looking to redeem themselves after this unexpected loss.
