Wike, Umahi, 26 Others Make Tinubu’s First Batch Of Ministerial List To Senate

July 27, (THEWILL) – After 60 days of suspence and anxiety since his inauguration on May 29, President Bola Tinubu has finally sent a list of ministerial nominees to the Senate for screening and confirmation.

The request was contained in a letter addressed to Senate President, Godswill Akpabio and read at plenary on Thursday.

President Tinubu in the letter, explained that the confirmation request was in accordance with the provisions of Section 147 subsection 2 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.

“In accordance with Section 147 Subsection 2 of the Constitution of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended, I hereby forward the under-listed ministerial nominees for your confirmation”, he included the immediate-past governors of Rivers, Kaduna, Osun. Cross River and Ebonyi States as Ministers.

However, the list sent to the Senate on Thursday, confirmed THEWILL’s report that President Tinubu would unveil his ministerial nominees in batches.

Captioned “President Tinubu To Announce Ministerial Nominees In Batches”, THEWILL had on Sunday, July 16, said the decision was for the president to assemble a cabinet that he intends to use to deliver on his campaign promises.

Quoting competent sources familiar with the president’s thinking, THEWILL reported that Tinubu intended to form a government of national interests across party lines by giving appointments to members of opposition parties with his eyes already on the 2027 general elections.

However, presenting his first batch of ministerial nominees to the Senate on Thursday, President Tinubu asked the Red Chamber to confirm the immediate-past governors of Rivers Nyesom Wike, Kaduna’s Nasir E-Rufai, and Senator David Umahi of Ebonyi States as Ministers.

Other nominees include President Tinubu’s top aide, Dele Alake; Lateef Fagbemi (SAN); APC national woman leader, Dr Betta Edu; former Lagos State Commissioner for Finance, Olawale Edun; and ex-Minister of State for Health, Prof. Ali Pate
