Why My Genre Is Afrobeats – German Singer, Hannah Guendemir

BEVERLY HILLS, July 08, (THEWILL) – German-born singer, Hannah Guendemir, says she chose a music career in Afrobeats because the genre is too connected to other aspects of the African culture.

Guendemir, who adopted Oyin as her stage name, a Yoruba name given to her by her Nigerian fans and friends, said: “Me for myself, I perceive the genre Afrobeats as too much connected with other aspects of African culture to just ignore these elements.”

The German singer also highlighted that she tries to do Afrobeats music with respect and to put things in “bigger context”.

“I always tried to approach the music with all due respect and put it in a bigger context and I guess that is what my fans and supporters see and why they accept me as a part of this genre,” she said.

THEWILL reports that the singer released an Afrobeats song, ‘To Se Daada’ in 2019 and the music topped the Boomplay chat.
