November 20, (THEWILL) – Afrobeats singer and songwriter, Charles Chibueze Chukwu, professionally known as Crayon, has opened up about struggling with addiction to hard drugs for an extended period of time.
In a recent disclosure on his X account, formerly known as Twitter, Crayon candidly shared his past struggles with substance abuse.
He recounted engaging in various substances, including Tramadol with a peak dosage of 700 milligrams; Skushi from Ele, and consuming Emzolyn in its raw form.
However, he emphasised his avoidance of ice and marijuana, expressing a sense of prudence.
Crayon attributed his turnaround to Sunday Enejere, popularly known as Babyfresh, the Mavin Records producer and CEO of Blowtime Imprint, who discovered his talent.
According to Crayon, Babyfresh urged him to abandon these destructive habits. He expressed gratitude and acknowledged that despite his current fame and financial success, he has successfully refrained from smoking or indulging in those substances.
The post read, “Bro, I used to do drugs back in the days in Ojo (a suburb in Lagos State), name it!!! Trams? My highest na 700 milligrams! Skushis from ele! 2 big ragolis me and my guys!! Emzolyn, I dey pop raw 2 bottles !!! Ref!!! But I no do ice shaaa!! And I no smoke Igbo sha, me I get sense!!
“Babyfresh picked me up from the slums. He said you gats stop all those things I did!! All glory to God! I did!! Now I don’t smoke or do those things any more!!! Upon all the money wey I get!! I’m chilled!!”
Ingestion of illicit substances is very common among entertainers. Only a few months ago, the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) suspended Nollywood actor, Jerry Williams, over drug abuse.
He was suspended from acting to prevent him from endangering the lives of other actors on set.
Williams checked into a rehab facility for drug addiction a few weeks ago where he has been undergoing therapy.
