June 9, (THEWILL)- Nigerian rapper, Folarin Falana, otherwise known as Falz, has revealed why he stopped criticising the Federal Government.

Falz, who is the son of renowned human rights activist, Femi Falana SAN, is known for delivering songs that address bad governance and societal ills. The songs include ‘Wehdone Sir’, ‘Child of the World’, ‘Talk’, and ‘Mr Yakubu’ among others. He was also involved in the #EndSARS protest against police brutality in October 2020.

However, he said he stopped being critical of the government because he did not want to be seen as the bearer of complaints.

“You will see that guy. But I do not want that guy to get to a point where he is seen as ‘you guys just dey complain’. I do not want to ever get to that point. That is why I am taking a pause from just complaining. I want to rearrange how I am doing it,” he said.

“So, how am I doing it? Am I doing it in a way that is just making everybody feel sad? We already know that we are in wàhálà. Why am I further soaking you in that emotion? I want to bring you out of that emotion in some way and that is what I am trying to do.”

The singer started to make a name in the Nigerian music space in 2009.

Falz has also had an impressive music career which has seen him win several awards. Aside from being a rapper, Falz is also an actor.
