Why I Still Live With My Mum At 34 – Anthony Joshua

November 8, (THEWILL) – British professional boxer, Anthony Oluwafemi Olaseni Joshua, has revealed why he still lives with his mother at age 34 insisting that persuading him to move out would be a challenge for any future partner.

In 2017, following his triumphant win over Wladimir Klitschko, he chose to return to his mother’s two-bedroom ex-council flat. After winning £15 million from the memorable victory, reflecting a unique connection to his roots and a preference for a more grounded lifestyle.

In a conversation with Louis Theroux, the British boxer delved into his tight bond with family and playfully cautioned potential girlfriends about the challenge of competing with his mother, Yeta Odusanya. Nonchalantly, the two-time world champion shared with the BBC, “I still live with my mum.”

“In our culture, we grow up in our own family home, we support our parents. Why am I going to move out and leave my mum by herself, for some girl? Family is the most important thing. When a girl gets with me, she ain’t just marrying me, she’s marrying my family.”

The boxing star, currently not publicly involved in a relationship, admitted to cherishing the privacy of his personal life. He expressed his challenge in meeting the expectations people have of him, adding, “Are we going to dissect everything I say and use it as a narrative to create a story?”

He explained that he prefers to keep a low profile, “You put all this pressure on yourself to come and be this big star and be perfect. I’m telling you, they’ll pull you down. The higher you are, the bigger the drop.”

Joshua had a fluctuating relationship with the mother of his child, Nicole Osbourne, a former school friend. At one point he purchased a £500,000 flat close to his own residence for her.
