SAN FRANCISCO, May 10, (THEWILL) – Former Chelsea player and now Torino wing-back, Ola Aina, has defended his decision to play for the Super Eagles ahead of The Three Lions.

Aina made this known in an Instagram live chat by the PUNCH stressing that the assurances he received from the Nigeria Football Federation made him choose the three-time African champions in May 2017.

He said: “I probably would have made it there at some point but Nigeria told me I can make it here now, it was a no-brainer.

“Yes, if you have the roots and from Nigeria, you should be welcomed to play for Nigeria, no one should feel like they are pushed aside.”

The midfielder also disclosed that Samuel Chukwueze is the most difficult player he has faced within the Super Eagles set up.

THEWILL reports that Aina was born to Nigerian parents in London and he played for England youth teams across all levels from Under-16 to U-20 and ever since his debut for the Super Eagles in a World Cup qualifier against Zambia in 2017, the 23-year-old has had 17 appearances and has made himself a prominent figure in Gernot Rohr’s squad.
