March 17, (THEWILL) – The Bayelsa State Police Command says it has deployed the entire officers of the command for Saturday, March 18, 2023 state Assembly Election across the eight (8) local government areas of the state.
Speaking to journalists during the deployment excercise at the state command headquarters in Yenagoa, CP Mohammed Dankwara, who was flanked by other officers, said they have completed their deployment and everything is in top gear.
“We have deployed the entire command. Sometimes it will not be wise for me to give some tabulations. But the entire team of the command, Tactical commanders and Mobile teams have all been deployed.
“We work in synergy with other sister agencies, Civil Defence, Federal Road Safety, Immigration, amongst others, have been deployed to their respective polling units.”
CP Dankwara said he had no knowledge of any pre-election violence in Nembe and Brass local government area. “I don’t think there is any security breach, some people can raise the bar just to put fear in the mind of the people. You are witnesses to the election that was conducted three weeks ago and their was nothing like that. People are just trying to create panic.”
He, therefore, called on all Bayelsans to come out en-mass and exercise their franchise, Saying they are guaranteed adequate security coverage for everyone including journalists on election duties.
